Introducing George Clooney

2012 Big Brother dogmate Delilah the Kelpie and caught up with Mr Clooney prior to him going in to the Big Brother house to have a chat about AWLQ, Big Brother and all things working dog.

Delilah: Hey George great to meet you. Tell me a bit about yourself?

Mr Clooney: Hi Delilah – I’m nine months old and am a Stumpy Tail Cattle dog. I was born without a tail which surprises a lot of people but I’m happy without one. They get in the way.

Delilah: How did you end up at the Animal Welfare League QLD?

Mr Clooney: I got lost and couldn’t find my owners. I was taken to the pound but they didn’t come for me. The Animal Welfare League took me in and loved me before Big Brother chose me to be on their show. I can’t wait to meet the housemates.

Delilah: What do you like to do for fun?

Mr Clooney: Well when I was waiting for a home at the Animal Welfare League of Qld I used to love getting out of my pen and heading to the beach! I love chasing other dogs through the water and then crumbing myself in the sand. I was always the last one back on the bus to go back to the shelter because sun and surf are my favourite things. I was learning some cool tricks with my foster carer prior going in to the house as well which was fun. They seem to think I am pretty smart but only when I am in the mood. I will do pretty much anything for a liver treat though I have to tell you!

Delilah: What tricks do you know?

Mr Clooney I know how to sit, stay, drop and roll over. I almost know how to shake and ride a skateboard. That’s my favourite and I hope I can take my own into the house!

Delilah: I hear you are a bit of a ladies’ man? Is that true?

Mr Clooney: Its’ not my fault, they fall for me! I have chased after the odd skirt though which got me into trouble. Long skirts look like towels on a clothesline (and I love to pull them off the line) so I had to learn the hard way that women’s skirts are not to be played with. I hope there are some friendly ladies in the house.

Delilah: When I was in the Big Brother house I got to sleep wherever I wanted. Where do you think you will sleep?

Mr Clooney: In the softest most comfortable spot of course. Hopefully someone will let me cuddle up to them in their bed or if not, the couch will have my name written all over it!

Delilah: Now that I have found a lovely new family my new job is to promote shelter pets who need new homes just like we did. When you get out of the Big Brother house will you be able to help me?

Mr Clooney: You bet! The Animal Welfare League Qld helps out so many cats and dogs just like us, anyone who wants a new pet should definitely adopt and NOT go to a pet shop that supports backyard breeders and puppy mills. Then they could have their own superstar, just like us!

Delilah: Couldn’t have said it better myself – you are one smart puppy!

Kirra the greatest Greyhound

My mate Kirra is such a lovely lady!

She is looking for a new home at the Animal Welfare League of Qld Gold Coast rehoming centre because her owner moved to Sydney and couldn’t take her with him.

She is pretty quiet but when you get to know her she loves a play before finding somewhere nice to curl up to have a nap.

The dog handelers at the shelter say she is soft, gentle, loving, quietand toilet trained. Check out her video below and share it with your friends.

Snapshot of Christmas

I had a great time over the Christmas break with my new family. It was the best Christmas I have ever had… It was filled with lots of love, belly rubs and the occasional pass of chicken under the table Shhhhh….. Don’t tell anyone.

The day started with a swim in the dam and scoffing down my breaky before I got to meet my extended family & wait for it…….Their eight dogs! DOG BLISS!

You will never believe that my mums brothers dog looks almost idential to me! His name is Choccera which is Aboriginal for red dog. Check him out below.. Scary similar huh!

I also had a great time playing in the paper and ripping it all up into tiny little bits… Mum wasn’t very happy picking it all up later though.

Did you do something special with your pets this Christmas?

HAPPY 2013

Hi everybody!!

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.I had a great time chasing my brothers around the farm and playing in the dam to cool off on those balmy nights. It’s all systems go now that we have entered 2013. I went and visited my mum at the shelter today to make sure she is working hard finding homes for all of the cats and dogs patiently waiting. I was surprised to see lots of empty pens after a fantastic rehoming weekend. 41 Cats and Dogs found a home at the Coombabah shelter alone!

There is still lots of puppies and kittens available for adoption so make sure you check out www.awlqld.com.au
